The GHE PTA is proud to announce that Falcon's Nest has received a generous grant of $15,000 from the North Carolina Heritage Advisory Council. Our goals for Falcon's Nest align with the mission of the Council, to get our kids outdoors! GHE appreciates this generous support.

The NC Outdoor Heritage Advisory Council was established in 2015 by the NC General Assembly to get kids outdoors, off electronic devices and enjoying activities we have seen a decline in. The Council, through grants and programming has successfully been getting kids outdoors and is proud to be our first Soaring Falcon member.

Falcon's Nest received the North Carolina Schools Go Outside (GO) Grant. This grant was created to address the main barrier to getting kids outside during the school day – funding. Field trips and outdoor experiences offer students opportunities to explore and learn in hands-on environments. With limited dollars available from our local school systems, such engaging and active styles of learning are becoming things of the past.

GO Grants are grants that are provided to access field study locations and assist with other expenditures that result from taking students outdoors. Qualifying for grants require instructors demonstrate how the experience will address topics currently being taught in class and that the experience meets the goals of the Outdoor Heritage Trust Fund plan. The program also allows staff at field study sites to apply on behalf of teachers with their permission.

The GHE PTA mission for Falcon's Nest aligns perfectly with the Heritage Advisory Council and we are grateful to have this wonderful partner invest in the health, welfare, and education of our GHE Falcons!
