Volunteering at GHE

Volunteering is a great way to meet other parents and become more involved in the Green Hope community! At Green Hope you will see parents reading to children in classrooms, eating lunch with their children in the cafeteria, helping with classroom activities, and volunteering at school-wide events. There are opportunities to fit every schedule and every little bit of help creates a positive impact on the educational experience of your child.

You must be logged in to view current volunteer opportunities.

why volunteer?

Your child benefits. When parents get connected to the school, children do better. Research shows children whose parents are involved get better grades, do better on tests, and have fewer discipline
problems at school.

We have fun. We try to make volunteer work fun! We accomplish a lot. Not everything we do is easy, but
try not to take ourselves too seriously and have a good time along the way.

The work is rewarding. It's seeing the bright light of learning in a child's eye. It's seeing the smile that shows we're making school a little more fun--and a child feel a little more comfortable in a learning
environment. There are lots of rewards, both big and small, for those who get involved.

We are welcoming. There are no "outsiders." We are parents and guardians who have come together to work toward a common goal. We couldn't happier to have you join us in working toward those goals!

Register with Wake County

Per Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) policy, all volunteers that will work directly with children must register with WCPSS. This is the same registration that you complete to volunteer in your child's classroom or on field trips. This process needs to be completed every year.

New for 2023-24 In prior years, WCPSS volunteer registration had to be completed on the school campus. Now you can register from the comfort of your own home by visiting https://myvolunteer.com/wcpss/volunteer/login. Here you will create an account and can request access for Green Hope Elementary and other Wake County Schools. You'll receive an email with more instructions after creating the request. A detailed guide to this new process can be found here
